On the 8th April, the City of Adelaide hosted a community celebration day at the now-vacant former Le Cornu Site at 88 O’Connell Street, North Adelaide. A fun day out for all, the event was designated as an opportunity for local businesses and residents would have an opportunity to explore the site. Beyond Pixels was fortunate enough to host a stand at the event, aiming to entertain and educate the community about virtual reality.

Using 360° cameras, we created two new, immersive videos that showcased the wonderful area of North Adelaide. The first video, “A Walk Down O’Connell Street,” showcased a few of the great local venues in the form of a fun virtual tour were we sampled many of each locations goods and services. The second video was an immersive tour of the famous Adelaide Oval showcasing the southern Riverbank Stand and the famous scoreboard hill area.

We filmed, edited, and were ready to present our videos thanks to a combination of hard work and the willingness and kindness of local business and venues that allowed us to take up a small amount of their time. Though the weather was extremely hot, it was fantastic to see both locals and the Adelaide community in general come to support the event.

There was live music, face painting, roving performers and plenty of other activities to see and do. Ten of North Adelaide’s food traders came out to support the event selling to an estimated 2,000+ attendees.

Using our mobile virtual reality solutions, we were able to give people of all ages the opportunity to experience our North Adelaide showcases, either through the headsets or by viewing the videos on the phones. Many people ranging from virtual reality newcomers to those who had dabbled in the technology before came and tested out our videos and we received some very positive feedback.

We are hoping to attend more events in the upcoming months to demonstrate virtual reality with more content, made relevant to each event. If you are a business or an individual that would like to get in contact with us, you can do so via  this website or social media.
